Providing Families with Resources in Catacamas, Honduras

Por Los Niños has a long legacy of caring not just about children’s physical needs but also their spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs. Brain science confirms what we already knew, a biblical principle that has remained true throughout time: loving, kind, present, and attentive adults are the keys to a child’s success.

Children in the holistic care center at FLM receive trauma therapy in various ways, including one-on-one, group sessions, and play. We also provide family counseling for families in our family preservation program, reintegrated families, and foster families.

Our staff is trained in TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention), an evidence-based intervention for children from hard places of abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Our staff members are trained TBRI instructors and often teach TBRI to other organizations in Honduras that serve vulnerable children.

In March 2022, Family Life Missions co-hosted the first Latin American Conference on Vulnerable Childhood, addressing trauma, attachment, and resilience issues.  Along with Lightshine, FLM welcomed 150 in-person attendees and over 200 who virtually attended. Expert speakers from Spain, London, and Denmark spoke to conference attendees from 45 organizations from Honduras, Costa Rica, Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, USA, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, United Kingdom, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, and Spain.
