God’s Demonstration of Love

gods demoAt Family Life Missions, we see the hope of Christ. FLM is transforming lives in Catacamas through the Family Preservation program with parenting workshops, nutrition resources, “building dreams,” and spiritual guidance. FLM is growing with safe and secure homes for children through the Foster Care      program, where vulnerable and abandoned children are placed in loving homes that change their future path. FLM is equipping adolescents each day through the Por Los Niños program that provides education and residential homes. The Por Los Niños village provides loving homes for vulnerable children on campus. It equips students from the community through the Escuela Bilingüe Por Los Niños (Por Los Niños Bilingual School)  with a quality Christian education. I believe that FLM is working closely alongside God and follows in step with Christ’s demonstration of love.  When I think of this love,    I am reminded of Romans 5:6-11...

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ  died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person, someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

It should come as no surprise that humanity has fallen short of the Lord’s command for us as believers. We live in a world full of shame, temptation, deceit, addiction, and other sin struggles that separate us from God. However, because of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, we have been given an outlet for hope.

In Scripture, we are reminded of how our story of redemption came as a gift and not an obligation. God chose to send His Son to a world full of indulgent and selfish people.           He saw that humans began to fall into a never-ending cycle of viewing themselves as the god of their own life. We can now live and boast in this undeserving gift because of this example of a righteous death.

The first and most fundamental step to applying the true life and redemption that God has provided us through Christ is living in humility. We can accomplish this by remembering that we  are all undeserving of the gift and hope given to us as a result of the crucifixion. The gifts of hope,   mercy, grace, and redemption are not based on our gender, race, class, or political party; they are solely based on the fact that we all are God’s children.

Once we all have faith in the cross and this undeserving love and understand that Christ provides assurance through his blood, we will show  the hope of Christ throughout every aspect of our life through boasting in Him. This immaculate  painting of the Gospel is seen in Romans 5:6-11 and is evident in the work of Family Life Missions.

What a joy it is to see true transformation occurring in Catacamas!
