Stewardship That Pleases God
By Eduard Juarez, FLM Honduras Accounting Administrator
We have reached the ninth month of the year, and we can say with joy and gratitude in our hearts: That the Lord helped us so far!
We believe that God will continue to provide the means necessary for Family Life Missions to continue working on behalf of vulnerable children and families. This work entails healthy stewardship in everything we do. We honor God by being good stewards of the goods and resources that HE has given us to serve the children and families of our community.
As I think of the word "stewardship," I reflect on several passages in the Bible where it teaches us on this subject. One that catches my attention is the book of Genesis chapter 1:26-28, when God creates man and commands them to lord over the whole earth. It is clear that man was created to work, and work is the good stewardship of all creation. God establishes man in the garden to work and care for it.
Family Life Missions is a ministry created under God's purpose for the care of every child and family we serve, providing education, child protection, building and improving housing, and preserving families.
We are stewards, or simple administrators of each donation received, whether in kind, in time, or monetary, with all having the purpose of benefiting the children and families of our community. We have the responsibility as an organization to execute each fund with integrity, transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness, covering the needs of each program.
From March 2020 and so far this year, there's no doubt we've been in difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Without a doubt, we know that having correct practices in the good use of the funds and resources that God has provided has led us to have His support. It is very satisfying to know that we are part of what God has put in each donor's heart and be the administrators that make sure that each donation reaches every child and family that are part of the programs. We make sure they receive holistic care in the areas of physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
We thank God and our donors who have trusted in Family Life Missions to fulfill our vision and mission. We know and believe the fundamental principle of stewardship: God is the owner of everything, and we are simply administrators or stewards acting on His behalf.
We know that God has called us as stewards for His ministry, and we work for Him. We do our work as the biblical passage in Colossian 3:23 tells us: "And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men…."
